Breadwinning
Challenging Stereotypes...Managing Responsibility...Making It All Work
More women than ever before are the primary earners in their families. According to the Pew Research Center's recent report, women earn higher salaries than their husbands in one out of five marriages in the United States.
At Nebo, many of us understand through firsthand experience the challenges, achievements and complexities of being the primary breadwinner in the family. We know that, for many women, the excitement of career advancement can be offset by being absent from home more often due to increased responsibilities. Women leaders tell us about the trade offs, about learning to achieve in high profile positions while sustaining a marriage, raising a family, and working through traditional stereotypes.
Nebo for Women provides coaching and dialogue circles for "alpha earners" -- women who are earning 50% or more of the household income. We are interested in learning from you about the ways that you are handling this responsibility, the kind of support you need, the role that your partner is playing, and how you think about the trade-offs and rewards of being the breadwinner for your family.
