Case Study: Leaders

In January 2008, we hosted a retreat called, “Visioning for Visionaries” at the beautiful Kayser Ridge Retreat Center in West Virginia.  Kate Ebner and Cliff Kayser invited 8 other leaders to attend a creative weekend together. Recognizing that most people just need space and time to find the inspiration to create a vision, Kate and Cliff kept the agenda open and invited those present to make “creative dates” with each other for support throughout the weekend. Over dinner each evening, the visionaries shared their ideas and progress, gaining encouragement and motivation from each other.

This Vision Lab experience included sitting under the stars on top of the ridge, curling up on couches with sketch pads and colored pencils, hikes in the woods, and delicious homemade pies eaten at all hours of the day and night.

The result?  Catalytic visioning.  After the retreat, the leaders continued to communicate and support each other.  Many found opportunities for collaboration and partnership. “Visioning for Visionaries” crystallized more than just eight powerful visions. The friendships and network of support that grew from the experience was just one of the amazing benefits of this experience.
